Add the baby to health coverage — 60-day window

A birth opens a 60-day special enrollment period. Miss it and you may wait until next year.

What it's worth
Avoids uncovered bills
Deadline
Within 2 months of the birth
Who qualifies
Applies to employer plans and the ACA Marketplace alike; windows vary by plan.

The details

A new baby must be added to your health plan, and a birth is a qualifying life event: employer plans typically give you 30–60 days, and the ACA Marketplace gives you 60 days from the birth to enroll or change plans. Coverage is retroactive to the birth date on the Marketplace. This is the sharpest deadline on this list — do it in week one while the paperwork energy is there.
