Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Summary: Anchor is built to support parents, not exploit data. We collect limited information solely to personalize your experience, we never sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we treat family-related information with heightened care.
1. Who We Are
Anchor (published on the app stores as DadAnchor, and referred to in this policy as "Anchor," "we," or "us") is a digital parenting companion application designed for adult parents and caregivers. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the Anchor mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
For privacy-related inquiries, you can contact us at:
Email: support@dadanchor.com
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:
- The Anchor iOS and Android applications
- The dadanchor.com website
- All related services operated by Anchor
This policy does not apply to third-party services you may access through Anchor. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Information
- Email address (used for authentication, account recovery, and essential communication)
- Optional ZIP code (used only to match state-level benefit programs in the Provide tab; approximate location at the ZIP-code level, never precise location, and never sold, shared, or used for advertising)
3.2 Child Profile Information
- First name or nickname
- Date of birth
- Optional birth time and birth location
- Temperament traits, current challenges, and (optionally) diagnoses you choose to share, used to personalize guidance
Child profiles are created and managed solely by the parent or legal guardian. Anchor does not independently collect information directly from children.
A note on your kid's information. Everything Anchor knows about your child is your description of them — the details and answers you, the parent, chose to provide. It is used only to personalize your guidance, it is never used for advertising or sold, and you can edit or delete any child profile, or your entire account and everything in it, at any time from Settings inside the app.
3.3 User-Generated Content
- Messages you send in chat and SOS descriptions of what's happening
- Saved guidance and reflections
- Notes or parenting challenges you voluntarily share
3.4 Usage and Technical Data
- Feature usage patterns and session activity, collected via PostHog analytics
- Crash and error diagnostics
This data is used in aggregated form to improve app stability and usability.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data for the following purposes:
- Providing personalized parenting guidance based on child development stages
- Generating the daily Compass reel, Soul Map profiles, and contextual insights
- Supporting Repair and crisis-adjacent features when you use them
- Saving your preferences and history within the app
- Improving the Service based on anonymized usage trends
5. Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on your jurisdiction, Anchor processes personal data under the following legal bases:
- Your explicit consent
- Performance of the service you request
- Legitimate interests in improving the Service without overriding user rights
- Compliance with legal obligations
6. AI and Automated Processing
Anchor uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized content. AI text and Grok voice requests are routed server-side through OpenRouter. Anchor does not use ElevenLabs.
- Only the minimum necessary contextual information is shared with AI providers
- Your personal data is not used to train public AI models
- Responses are generated on demand
- AI providers act solely as data processors on our behalf
7. Data Storage and Security
Anchor stores data using Supabase infrastructure.
- Encryption at rest and in transit
- Strict access controls
- Row-level security isolating user data
- Secure, monitored data centers
8. Encryption and Export Compliance
Anchor does not implement proprietary or non-standard encryption algorithms.
All encryption relies on:
- Apple and Android operating system security mechanisms
- Industry-standard encryption provided by infrastructure vendors
9. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain personal data only as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide the Service.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: open Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. You can also email support@dadanchor.com and we will delete it for you.
When you delete your account:
- Your personal data is permanently removed
- Associated child profiles are deleted
- We retain keyed one-way hashes of the deleted email and account ID for up to 24 months for abuse prevention and deletion auditing. These hashes are not readable email addresses and cannot be used to contact you.
- Residual backups are purged within a reasonable timeframe
10. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal data
- We do not share data with advertisers
- We do not track users across apps or websites
- We do not profile children for any purpose beyond the guidance you asked for
11. Children's Privacy
Anchor is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13.
All child-related information is provided voluntarily by parents and remains under their control.
12. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and data
- Request a copy of your data
- Withdraw consent where applicable
13. International Users
Your information may be processed in jurisdictions outside your country of residence. We apply consistent protections regardless of location.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email.
